This article explores the pedagogical possibilities and methods of fostering patriotism in primary school students during literature lessons through the Kyrgyz folk oral tradition (fairy tales, excerpts from epics, proverbs and sayings, riddles). It reveals the significance of the rich content, artistry, and accessibility of folklore in shaping young generations' understanding of their nation's history, culture, values, language, and customs, as well as in developing their feelings of love, pride, and respect for their Motherland. The article discusses the criteria for selecting folk oral tradition for the primary school curriculum, effective teaching methods, its role in developing students' patriotic qualities, and assessment methods. Special emphasis isplaced on the role of teachers in this area and the necessity of cooperation with parents.
