Review discusses inelastic electron tunneling for generating and detecting 2D polaritons, suggesting new photon-free devices.
We will discuss recent advances in the generation and detection of 2D polaritons based on inelastic electron tunneling. In this presentation, we will review basic concepts and fundamental limits of these phenomena. Combined with the electrical steering of surface excitations, a new generation of photon-free polaritonic devices is anticipated based on our theoretical work and recent experimental findings.
