Piloted program improved oral skills and multicultural awareness in 35 preschoolers, indicating effective teaching methods.
In this paper we present a program that was piloted with 35 preschoolers aiming at early foreign language learning and developing multi/intercultural awareness through digital storytelling. The program lasted for 6 months and it was carried out twice a week. The stories were at the core of each session, being motivating and a best way to introduce young children to a diversity of cultures. Moreover, digital activities, creative and physical activities and games were included in the program. Its procedure was carried out through three stages: pre-stage, main stage and post-stage. The data obtained from the mid-term and final evaluation, the journal records, the interviews conducted with the children and the parents’ questionnaires indicated a remarkable degree of development of children’s oral skills in the target language, and their inter / multicultural awareness and understanding.
