The study reveals changes to redox balance and adaptation syndrome in laboratory animals, indicating potential stress responses.
The article presents the results of a study of the effect of a drinking ration with an increased content of deuterium on the antioxidant system of laboratory animals. It was found that an 8-fold increase in the deuterium content in the first two weeks causes a violation of the redox balance in the blood and brain tissues towards increased production of free radicals. With prolonged consumption, an increase in the deuterium content in the drinking ration to 1200 ppm leads to the development of an adaptation syndrome and activation of protective mecha-nisms to the action of stress of a different nature.
