Case report highlights echocardiography's role in diagnosing interventricular septal dissection, indicating risks of embolic stroke.
A 59‐year‐old male presented with an acute embolic stroke. Subsequent workup revealed an acute anterior ST‐elevation MI. Echocardiography demonstrated a large (82 × 32 mm) dissection cavity in the mid‐to‐apical septum, containing a mobile thrombus, which communicated with the left ventricular cavity through a 2‐mm endocardial tear. Despite conservative management, the patient experienced sudden cardiac death (SCD).
