Observational analysis reveals that optical knots destabilize in nonlinear media, indicating the significance of optical power in their behavior.
We study the stability of optical knots, composed by a superposition of Laguerre-Gaussian modes, in engineered nonlinear colloidal suspensions and show that the nonlinearity-induced perturbations lead to untying and reconnection events with increasing optical power.
