Identifying a new species, aslauga larseni, in the rare aslauga ernesti-group, indicating potential endemism.
A unique new species in the Aslauga ernesti-group was discovered in Liberia’s Nimba Mountains in 2013. All species in the group are known to be very rare and local, and they seem to be associated with upland and sub-montane habitats in forest-savannah mosaic or transition zone. This new species might prove narrowly endemic to the Nimba Mountains or to mountainous areas in the Liberian sub-region.
