This article investigates Young's modulus and tensile strength in a multiarc honeycomb structure, indicating significant improvements over traditional designs.
In this article, a multiarc honeycomb (MAH) structure is proposed, with a focus on investigating its Young's modulus and tensile strength. The Young's modulus of the MAH is derived using the energy principle, and the theoretical results are compared with finite element analyzes and experimental data, showing strong agreement among all three approaches. The tensile strength is analyzed using Timoshenko beam theory, and the results indicate that geometric parameters have a significant impact on the tensile strength of the MAH, which is confirmed by tensile testing. Compared to annular honeycombs, both the stiffness and specific stiffness of the MAH exhibit significant improvements. Due to its superior mechanical properties, the MAH demonstrates considerable potential for applications in aerospace, construction, and other industries. This study offers valuable insights for further research on MAH structures.
