This research demonstrates effective C-H bond arylation in benzamides using 4-aminoantipyrine, indicating successful Pd catalysis.
A recent report reveals the power and efficacy of 4‐aminoantipyrine as a removable N , O ‐bidentate directing group in Ru‐catalyzed C─H bond arylation. In this study, an extension of the efficacy of the novel group is described. 4‐Aminoantipyrine has enabled Pd‐catalyzed silver‐free ortho ‐C(sp 2 )‐H arylation of its amides with aryl iodides under mild reaction conditions employing the commonly used Pd(OAc) 2 as a Pd source and K 2 CO 3 as a base. Various electronically different aryl iodides as aryl sources were tolerated under optimum reaction conditions to give the corresponding arylated products in good yields. The Pd‐catalyzed C─H bond arylation reaction of 4‐aminoantipyrine benzamides tolerated a good range of different arene substrates in decent yields.
