Case report provides insights on treatment outcomes using stereotactic radiosurgery for colloid cysts, suggesting it may improve safety and efficacy.
A bstract Colloid cysts are rare benign tumors most commonly occurring in the third ventricle. Conventional surgical approaches may be associated with complications and a high recurrence rate. Minimally symptomatic or incidental colloid cysts pose a treatment dilemma due to a slight but devastating possibility of late progression and sudden death. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) may be the middle-of-the-road solution in such a vignette. Given its safety profile and clinical-radiological efficacy, SRS may find a role in the treatment protocol of colloid cysts.
