Experiments report root cuttings as effective for honey locust propagation, indicating viable cost-efficient methods.
This paper presents the results of experiments in the vegetative propagation of honey locust by grafting, budding, and cuttings. Root cuttings appear to offer the most promising method of reproducing desirable strains in large quantities at reasonable cost. Grafted or budded stock can be propagated by this method by first using hardwood or greenwood cuttings and then taking root cuttings from the trees thus started after they have become thoroughly established.
