Library research examines Imam Nawawi's views on fruit sales, indicating legal benefits and Islamic compliance.
Imam Nawawi permitted the sale and purchase of fruit before it was ready to be harvested on the condition that it must be picked and the picked fruit must have benefits for humans. In this case, textually, the law applied by Imam Nawawi contradicts the hadith of the Prophet, his thinking did not immediately abandon the hadith, instead he brought in a hadith that indirectly indicates that the law of buying and selling fruit before it was ready to be harvested was permitted on the condition that the purchased fruit must be picked directly. This study uses a library research method. Data were analyzed from fiqh books by Imam Nawawi. The aspects examined in the discussion are the use and application of the basis of the Qur'an, Hadith and Ijma' as well as Imam Nawawi's arguments regarding the requirements for benefits in fruit before it was ready to be harvested, the validity of the evidence, the aspects of benefits and harms of the legal consequences of the permissibility of buying and selling fruit before it was ready to be harvested on the condition that the fruit must be picked directly during the contract. The conclusions that emerged in this discussion are, firstly, that the determination of the hadith used by Imam Nawawi is in accordance with the intent of the hadith. Second, the requirements for the benefits of fruit before it is ready for harvest are in accordance with Islamic law and the pillars of sale and purchase. Third, the evidence used by Imam Nawawi is declared valid, and the ijma' referred to in the term "Ijma' Zanni" refers to it.
