Development of a fuzzy logic controller enhances pH management in biooxidation, ensuring process efficiency.
This article discusses the development of an intelligent control system for the biooxidation process of sulfide concentrates. Special attention is given to maintaining the optimal pH level, as it directly influences the activity of microorganisms and, consequently, the efficiency of the entire process. Key biochemical reactions occurring within the system, including the oxidation of iron ions and sulfur compounds, are analyzed. Based on these reactions, kinetic models have been developed that account for bacterial growth rates and substrate consumption. A fuzzy logic-based controller was chosen as the foundation for intelligent control, enabling effective management of complex and nonlinear biotechnological processes characterized by a high degree of uncertainty. This approach ensures precise pH regulation under variable environmental conditions. Modeling results demonstrated that the fuzzy controller outperforms traditional PID systems in terms of stability and adaptability.
