In vivo assessment shows Lactobacillus fermentation improves growth and affects leukocyte indices in albino Wistar rats, suggesting health benefits.
This study investigates the impact of Lactobacillus fermented chicken feather on structural development and leukocyte indices in albino Wistar rats. Using in vivo techniques, researchers evaluated the effects of fermented feeds on rats, utilizing Lactobacillus acidophilus strain DSN20079 (LADSM) as the fermenter. The study showed significant (P<0.05)increased in body weight: from 136.70g (week 1) to 314.60g (week 6); organ weights: Liver: 6.32 g, Kidney: 0.47g, Lungs: 1.02g, Heart: 0.43g Leukocyte analysis revealed decrease counts of neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, and monocytes, and increased lymphocyte count. The study concludes that Lactobacillus fermented chicken feather meal exhibits pronounced activity on structural development and leukocyte indices, suggesting its potential as a valuable feed additive for promoting healthy growth and immune function. The findings highlight the benefits of utilizing fermented chicken feather meal as a sustainable and effective feed supplement.
