New species records of dendrelaphis in Bangladesh imply expanded known distribution and highlight taxonomic methods.
We report the new records of Dendrelaphis haasi (Van Rooijen & Vogel, 2008) and Dendrelaphis cyanochloris (Wall, 1921) from Dudpukuria‑Dhopachari Wildlife Sanctuary and Kaptai National Park, Bangladesh. An integrative analysis, including morphological and genetic data, confirmed the identity of these species and the known distribution of the genus is extended in the region. Along with new country records, we provide natural history notes of these two little known species in Bangladesh, highlighting the significance of comprehensive taxonomic approaches in uncovering cryptic diversity and providing baseline data for future conservation efforts.
