Construction of Ni2P/VOx heterostructures improves OER performance in electrocatalysts, suggesting enhanced durability.
The rational design of cost‐efficiency electrocatalysts with long‐term durability is highly desirable for oxygen evolution reaction (OER), but still remains certain challenges. Herein, an interconnected Ni 2 P/VO x heterojunction electrocatalyst based on layered double hydroxides is constructed to facilitate OER process. The hierarchical structure of interacting VO x nanoflowers and Ni 2 P nanoparticles significantly expand the exposure of active sites and accelerate fast mass transport in the OER process. Theoretical investigations reveal that the strong multi‐interface coupling effectively moderate the electronic structure of Ni 2 P/VO x and promote the electronic conductivity. Thereby, obviously optimize the adsorption free energy and thus enhance the OER kinetics. As expected, Ni 2 P/VO x achieved remarkable OER performance with a low overpotential of 210 mV at current densities of 10 mA cm −2 along with long‐term durability over 50 h and 1000 cycles. This study provides a promising and simple pathway to construct heterojunction materials for efficient water splitting.
