Novel model improves color transitions in rgb space, suggesting applications in digital painting and medical imaging.
The accurate simulation of pigment mixing in digital environments remains a complex challenge due to the limitations of traditional RGB interpolation and the need for realistic color transitions. This paper introduces a novel approach called “Lorentz Pigment Mixing (LPM)”, which employs higher-order differential equations and the Lorenz curve to achieve visually natural blending of colors within the RGB space. Unlike physical models such as Kubelka–Munk, which rely on spectral data often unavailable in digital formats, the LPM model works entirely within the RGB framework, making it accessible for real-time applications in digital painting, image analysis, and data visualization. Applications of LPM span various fields, including medical imaging, geospatial analysis, 3D rendering, and digital photography. The implementation is lightweight, open-source, and easily integrable into existing systems. This model bridges the gap between computational feasibility and perceptual fidelity in digital color representation, presenting a valuable tool for both technical and creative domains.
