Analysis reveals semantic connections related to safety and shelter among Ukrainians during wartime, indicating profound impacts of conflict.
The article presents the results of a study conducted during October – December 2022 with Ukrainian respondents. The associative fields of three stimulus words SAFETY, SHELTER, and the stimulus phrase “СLOSE THE SKY!” are analyzed: with the help of a free associative experiment. The structure of associative fields and their semantic content are determined, and a comparative analysis of the associative and lexical meaning of concepts is carried out. Actual semantic connections and meanings of stimulus words of respondents are revealed. The presented data in intelligence confirm that associative responses to specific words‑stimuli reflect the experience of the language community during the Russian‑Ukrainian war in 2022.
