Case report highlights complex interactions of hormonal resistance and musculoskeletal issues, indicating key diagnostic needs in pseudohypoparathyroidism.
Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) or Albright’s Hereditary Osteodystrophy (AHO) is a rare endocrine disorder characterized not only by phosphocalcic disorders but also by diverse musculoskeletal manifestations that can mimic metabolic and rheumatic diseases. Among these, “spondyloarthropathy-like” features may closely resemble ankylosing spondylitis, necessitating careful differentiation to ensure accurate diagnosis and management. We report a case of pseudo-ankylosing spondylitis in a patient with pseudohypoparathyroidism, highlighting the complex interplay between hormonal resistance and skeletal manifestations. A detailed review of the literature is provided, emphasizing the importance of recognizing atypical presentations in PHP for timely diagnosis and management.
