Experiment reveals the effectiveness of damping composites for shock absorption in railway systems, suggesting improved vibration control.
Damping composites made from materials with different elastic-hysteresis properties were studied at dynamic loads and temperatures +23 and -40 °С. A sandwich damper has been developed for a 14 mm thickness under-rail damping element made of a rubber-fiber composite and a thermoplastic elastomer, which in a selected proportion of thicknesses combines the positive effect of each material. A method is proposed for choosing the elastic-hysteresis characteristics of sandwich shock absorbers and a mathematical model of a multi-mass wagon-track vibration system that allows us to evaluate applicability and effectiveness of such shock absorbers.
