Experiment kit demonstrates effects of coil parameters and magnetic field on induced emf in coils.
In this study, we designed and fabricated an experiment kit, known as EM-In, to investigate factors affecting the magnitude of the induced electromagnetic force (emf) in the coil. It consists of four components: (1) a PVC stand, (2) a cylindrical magnet as a pendulum, (3) copper coils with different diameters and number of turns and (4) a connection box. The EM-In experiment kit offers a simpler method to demonstrate the production of the induced emf by swinging the cylindrical magnet to-and-fro the coil. It was employed with a personal computer installed with Audacity software to differentiate the magnitude of the induced emf in the coils. The EM-In experiment kit can be utilised to determine the effects of coil diameters, number of turns and magnetic field strength on the magnitude of the induced emf in the coil.
