Key Points

  • Benzomorpholine derivatives exhibited excellent photostability and dual-channel emission, enhancing live-cell imaging.
  • Quinoxaline compounds demonstrated promising photosensitizing capabilities, potentially advancing bioimaging technologies.
  • The study focuses on amino terephthalonitriles containing heteroacenes, revealing their significance in photophysical applications.
  • Findings indicate that these fluorophores could serve as effective cytoplasmic stains for live-cell monitoring.

Abstract

Abstract We have investigated the photostability, photosensitizing ability, and bioimaging applicability of some heteroacene containing amino terephthalonitriles. The fluorophores contain benzopiperazine, benzomorpholine, and quinoxaline heteroacenes. Benzomorpholine derivatives showed excellent photostability and dual‐channel emission, demonstrating potential as cytoplasmic stains for sustained live‐cell imaging, while quinoxaline analogues emerged as promising photosensitizers.
