The article presents issue of legal protection for freedom of political speech enjoyed by deputies to the Chamber of Deputies of the Duchy of Warsaw. Therein the Author also considers a question on influence of constitutional heritage of the period of the Duchy of Warsaw on Polish constitutional tradition in the scope of guaranties of freedom of speech granted to members of parliament. Used methods of analysis consists of historical, comparative and dogmatic interpretation of law as well as analysis of literature. Carried out analysis results in determination of types of legal protection enjoyed by deputies and reveals constitutional practise of Poles regarding performance of the representative functions. The article constitutes a reflection on sources of legal guaranties for freedom of political speech enjoyed by deputies and senators in the Republic of Poland and strong devotion to the democratic virtue of unfettered political debate in Polish constitutional tradition.
