This innovative collision warning method enhances vehicle safety by predicting risks in traffic, suggesting effective alerts.
Abstract Vehicle anti-collision schemes predict the risk of collision between the current driving vehicle and surrounding vehicles or obstacles based on parameters such as speed, acceleration, and distance and provide risk warnings to the driver. In this manuscript, a vehicle collision warning scheme is proposed based on distributed fibre-optic acoustic sensing (DAS) technology. In this scheme, the vehicle and vehicle type-related information of road traffic is first obtained based on DAS technology. Then, the vehicle safety distance model and vehicle anti-collision warning scheme are used to provide warning information to drivers in emergency situations for anti-collision accidents during driving. Moreover, a real-time prediction model for vehicle position and spacing based on vehicle motion/position and driver behaviour is proposed, and a collision risk assessment method and corresponding collision warning judgment model for vehicles are designed. First, the short-term motion of the target vehicle and surrounding vehicles is predicted based on the particle filter algorithm and vehicle motion model. Then, the predicted vehicle gap is compared with the safety distance threshold to predict vehicle collision risk. Finally, the simulation results indicate that this scheme can effectively detect vehicle collision risks and provide accurate warnings in a timely manner.
