Review discusses CRISPR-Cas9 technology's impact on identifying multiple sclerosis causes, suggesting new therapeutic pathways.
Biomedical research has taken a new turn with the creation of the Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats associated protein 9 (CRISPR-Cas9) which is specifically important when trying to understand the origin of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This review article summarizes recent studies that focus on the use of CRISPR-Cas9 technology to create accurate genetic models, study molecular pathways, and manipulate immune cells for therapeutic understanding. The search for relevant studies employed a review of database searches such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Major primary papers Emerging discussions on the application of CRISPR-Cas9 in the treatment of autoimmune disorders concentrate on MS, RA, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Research is ongoing to solve the more technical issues such as efficiency, delivery mechanisms, and off target effects. Challenges remain, but their ability to serve as a therapeutic target in the case of MS represent an amazing opportunity for precision medicine. In conclusion, CRISPR-Cas9 is an invaluable asset for understanding MS because it provides unprecedented opportunities to unravel the enigma behind the condition and develop effective prescriptions.
