The study implements EbereDimMT004 to evaluate product quality maturity in hybrid and additive manufacturing, suggesting impactful advancements.
The need to ascertain the level of technology advancement in the advanced subtractive, additive and hybrid manufacturing technologies (HMT), a data-based status, and the need to assure government, academia, and industry investors of the present reality has necessitated more scholarly research into the technology maturity of the emerging technology. The research therefore aimed to implement the advanced generic technological maturity assessment model, EbereDimMT004 on metal hybrid manufacturing technology along the established process capability variable of product quality (PQ). Industry digital manufacturing, intelligent mechatronics systems, robotics and automation data-based maturity model with membership function was implemented by the fuzzy logic questionnaire system and set theories, data and software engineering. The knowledge and functions which were organized and applied both as advanced generic scientific tool to source and process research data for the product quality technology maturity assessment of individual metal subtractive and additive manufacturing processes, then the metal hybrid manufacturing technology in combination. The capability maturity model integration (CMMI) maturity profile of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), Carnegia Mellon University, USA was adopted as a reference maturity framework for the technology maturity assessment outcome ranking. Hence, the assessed product quality technology maturity of metal hybrid manufacturing technology after research and results simulation was consistently at 3.18ML, which is quantitatively managed maturity level of 4 of 5-ML, and 62.91% ML of CMMI profile. Thus, justifies and represents the product quality technology maturity level of metal HMT.
