Analysis reveals softening and flow stress reductions in nickel-based alloys for gas-turbine engines, indicating critical temperature effects.
Deformation features of high-alloyed heat-resistant nickel-based alloys for gas-turbine engine disks of the Ni-Co-Cr-W-Al-Nb-Ti-Mo system (EP962, EK151 and EP975 type) near the gamma prime hardening phase solvus temperature have been studied. Analysis of deformation curves showed that the softening effect was controlled by dynamic recrystallization and the maximum decrease in flow stress in the two-phase region was observed at ~20 °С below gamma prime solvus temperature due to existence of ~10% gamma prime particles larger than 1,5 µm.
