Analysis highlights Romanian-Ukrainian and Hungarian-Ukrainian interactions, impacting local toponymy.
The article draws our attention to the analysis of modern oikonyms of Transcarpathia: Apshytsia, Kichereli, Negrovo, Negrovets, Nіagovo (now Dobrianske), and Chumalovo. The names were formed as a result of Romanian-Ukrainian and Ukrainian- Romanian interaction and underwent corresponding morphological adaptation. Most of these names (Apshytsia, Negrovo, Negrovets, Nіagovo) arose as a result of Romanian-Ukrainian interaction and demonstrate Romanian creative bases complemented by Ukrainian (Slavic) suffixes. The oikonym Kicherelу (Kуcherelу) is an example of Ukrainian-Romanian interaction, as it contains a Ukrainian (Slavic) base and a Romanian affix. The name Chumalovo reflects the results of Hungarian-Ukrainian- Romanian interaction. Its original form Chomalovo is motivated by the Hungarian anthroponym Chomal, while the later form Chumalovo was similarly influenced by the Romanian proper personal name Chumal.
