This study examines structural and dynamic properties of fibers made from poly-3-hydroxybutyrate and tetraphenyl porphyrin, revealing changes in morphology and crystallinity.
Structural-dynamic studies have been carried out, combining X-ray structural analysis, thermal-physical measurements (DSC), X-ray diffraction analysis, the ESR probe method and scanning electron microscopy. The structural and dynamic characteristics of superfine fibers based on poly-(3-hydroxybutyrate) containing a low concentration of the tetraphenylporphyrin complex (TFP) (0-5%) obtained by the electrospinning method were examined. It was found out that addition of tetramethylporfirin complexes into PHB fibers changed the morphology, slightly decreased crystallinity and slowed down molecular mobility in the amorphous regions of the polymer. The temperature effect on the fibers (annealing at 140 °C) leads to a sharp increase in crystallinity and molecular mobility in amorphous regions of poly-(3-hydroxybutyrate) fibers. Exposure in an aqueous medium at 70 °C is accompanied by a sharp decrease in enthalpy of melting and an increase in molecular mobility of chains in amorphous regions of the fiber.
