Analysis reveals potential for aircraft in fire control, suggesting improvements in training and techniques.
The use of aircraft, fixed wing and helicopters, is now firmly established in Pennsylvania's fire control program. The future potential of its use is bright. New and improved equipment, better techniques, and expanded training of personnel should increase the scope and effectiveness of the air attack program. The degree to which it does develop will be governed by the imaginations of those responsible for the application of these versatile tools. Intelligent study and planning must continue to produce results that can be justified in terms of costs and in the value of the forest resource spared from destruction.
