Observational analysis compares survival rates of 2-0 Dunemann stock with regular shipping stock, indicating performance differences.
The Dunemann system of growing nursery seedlings in beds of needle litter was used to produce 2-0 red pine and white spruce. The stock was outplanted on exposed sites in comparisons with regular 2-1 and 2-2 shipping stock. Assessments of survival and growth at two, five, and ten years after planting indicate that the 2-0 Dunemann stock is at a disadvantage.
