Molecular dynamics analysis reveals increased wear resistance with nanosized fillers in polyetheretherketone composites, indicating significant interplay of molecular interactions.
The reasons of increasing of wear resistance of a composite based on polyetheretherketone with a dispersed filler in the form of nanosized copper particles are studied using the molecular dynamics method. Computer modeling of the sliding friction process of polyetheretherketone and its nanocomposite is performed. It is found that in the zone of the simulated tribocontact, the density of polyetheretherketone molecules is 4 times greater than the density of its nanocomposite. At the same time, the energy of intermolecular interaction in the shear zone of polyetheretherketone and the metal layer exceeds this indicator by 35 % during contact of the composite with the counterbody. It is shown that this dispersed filler stabilizes the kinetic state of the polymer material molecules and increases the wear resistance of the composite compared to the matrix.
