This article reads the Dardenne brothers' film Two Days, One Night (Deux Jours, Une Nuit) (2014) as a case study in neoliberal practices of governance and human capital appreciation. Counter to accounts of neoliberalism focused on destruction and loss, this paper uses the film to attend to the operation of new social relations, ways of living, and subjectivities associated with neoliberalism. This paper focuses on how the film uses a management strategy of partnered, disseminated governance to illuminate the competitive pressures and responsibilized freedom bound up with dominant forms of neoliberal subjectivity today.
