A series of novel 2-amino-6-ferrocenyl-4-phenylpyrimidine (AFPP) derivatives (6a-j) have been synthesized by coupling AFPP with thioglycolic acid and various substituted benzaldehydes (a-j) using standard 1,3-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) protocol. The synthesized compounds were characterized by FTIR, 13C NMR, 1H NMR and MS techniques. The synthesized compounds 6a-j were evaluated for antifungal activities against Candida albicans MTCC 183. Comparing compounds 6a-j to standard amphotericin B, it was found that the synthesized compounds showed excellent activity.
