The article deals with the role of the numerical code in modern political media discourse. The research aims to identify and analyze the peculiarities of contextual and discursive use of numerals in the structure of proper names used in political communication, as well as to determine the specifics of the development of additional meanings of these units: connotative (expressive, emotional, evaluative), associative and symbolic. Proper names (anthroponyms, militarionyms, polytonyms, chrononyms, eventonyms, chrematonyms) with a numerative component are used as material for the analysis. The source of material was the National Corpus of the Russian Language database, as well as fragments of online political articles. The work uses the methods of contextual, conceptual, cognitive and discourse analysis, which allow us to reveal how numerical nominations acquire additional semantic shades that influence the information encoding and interpretation. As a result of the study, it is established that numerical expressions not only serve to denote quantitative characteristics of political objects and phenomena, but also play an important role in creating certain semantic effects, increasing the impact on the audience, forming certain emotional and ideological associations. The main functions of nominations with a numerical component in political discourse (nominative-differentiating, axiological, symbolic) are marked. It is emphasized that the numeral (ordinal and quantitative), which has a typical function of defining the plurality of objects united by one feature, turns a proper name into a singular phenomenon and establishes a strong connection between a linguistic unit (onym) and its only referent.
