In a paper called ‘Elements of the Philosophy of “Right”’ ( Philosophical Investigations (2022):1–8), I gave an account of what ‘right’ means, both ethically and generally. I was surprised to find little or no previous work on this topic. I came to the conclusion that the word means the same thing in ethical uses as it does in other non‐ethical uses. However, I have since come to see that there is a seemingly convincing objection to my account, though I stand by the account as given. The objection itself turns out to be a confusion.
