A new method to calculate the magnetic field of a uniformly magnetized sphere or spherical shell with surface current density K = K o sin θ using the solid angle concept is presented. The field can be shown easily to be constant inside the shell and dipole-like outside with a direct integral of Biot-Savart’s law without invoking magnetic vector potential or special scalar functions typically used for this classical problem.
