The methodology for developing a swimmer's specific endurance involves using a large volume of speed exercises within a repeated training method. Many experts believe that alternating training loads with varying swimming speeds leads to more successful improvement in the level of specific endurance development. However, despite a large number of studies, we did not come across any research on rest intervals between sets in repeated training. This article identifies the impact of rest intervals between sets in repeated training on athletes' functional state and competitive performance. The methodology for developing swimmers' specific endurance at the basic training stage using the repeated training method is presented. The study utilized pedagogical observations; analysis of training process planning and accounting documents; oral surveys of coaches and athletes; average time indicators of athletes in repeated training (8 x 100 m freestyle); the difference in average time indicators for covering distances in repeated training (8 x 100 m freestyle); and mathematical statistics methods using the SPSS program: Kolmogorov-Smirnov one-sample test; non-parametric methods – Kolmogorov-Smirnov two-sample test.
