Abstract This study documents the first occurrence of Encarsia cubensis Gahan (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) as a parasitoid of the woolly whitefly, Aleurothrixus floccosus (Maskell), in India. Morphological characterisation and analysis of the mitochondrial COI gene were carried out to determine the species. Field surveys revealed a significant level of parasitism above 70 per cent, highlighting the potential of E. cubensis in the natural regulation of the woolly whitefly on guava, which could have significant implications for pest management.
