Abstract In this work, three kinds of Flocculant, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and Chitosan (CTS), coating Fe-MO were prepared by a coprecipitation method followed by an in situ graft copolymerization. Results of various characterization techniques indicated that flocculant materials were successfully coated on the Fe-MOF surface, and were used as heterogeneous catalyst to degrade phenol in a Fenton-like reaction. Their catalytic activity has the order of MIL-CMC > MIL-MCC > MIL-CTS > MIL-88B. Experimental results revealed that about 100% phenol could be removed in 5 min under optimal conditions. The effects of initial solution pH, H₂O₂ concentration and catalyst dosage on the phenol degradation, as well as the stability and reusability of the catalyst, were investigated. Compared with pristine Fe-MOFs, the flocculent-MOFs not only provides better activity but also possesses higher stabilizing ability.
