The article is devoted to the genre analysis of the novel “The Sunken ark” by A. Varlamov, this aspect is practically not studied in modern literary studies. As a result of the study it is determined that the polyphony of the novel was influenced by the inclusion of hagiography, parable, eschatological myth in its genre structure. The eschatological myth determined the plot line of the novel. The parable is connected with the characterological conflict in the novel, as the characters express their position on many issues of existence. The hagiography influences the content level of the work: religious motifs, chronotope, the presence of a hero – a saint.
