Opioid Use and Outcomes in Patients Hospitalized With Acute Severe Ulcerative Colitis

Opioid use has not been shown to improve hospitalized inflammatory bowel disease patient pain scores and may prolong the length of stay (LOS). Additional clinical implications of opioid use, particularly high amounts, in the hospital setting have not yet been explored. We sought to determine how high opioid use impacts clinical outcomes in acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC).
