The ideas that we hold about our bodies are shaped by the culture and the people around us. There have been ongoing debates about fitting into a Western ideal of beauty, however, there is a need to discuss the duality of the beauty standards and conflicts faced by a person of colour. This project is about the inner conflicts that I encountered and experienced growing up in India. India has its own narrative of beauty informed mainly by colonial overtones. The project examines the relationship between self and body image through a practice-based methodology and an intersectional lens.
