This study confirmed through analysis of previous research the difficulties that immigrant background students may experience when learning mathematics in Korean schools. It analyzed the learning contents of domestic mathematics textbooks from a KSL perspective to provide implications on the development of KSL mathematics textbooks.Students of immigrant backgrounds who live in Korea face many difficulties due to language or cultural barriers when learning according to the general curriculum in Korean schools. In particular, in the case of mathematics subjects, apart from the problem of understanding mathematical concepts, there is a problem that learners with immigrant backgrounds need help understanding the context in Korean to understand concepts or unfamiliar everyday terms or mathematical terms written in Korean.Accordingly, the researcher analyzed elementary school mathematics textbooks from a KSL perspective and analyzed previously developed supplementary textbooks for learning KSL mathematics vocabulary to provide implications on what KSL mathematics textbooks are needed and how to structure them appropriately. As a result of the study, the current elementary school textbooks used many contexts, everyday terms, and mathematical terms unfamiliar to students from immigrant backgrounds. In addition, although the previously developed supplementary textbooks for learning KSL mathematics vocabulary are difficult to use in the regular curriculum, it was judged that the situations, pictures, and problems presented in the supplementary textbooks could contribute somewhat to the development of KSL mathematics textbooks.
