Utilizing plant extracts as an ecofriendly and renewable source for corrosion inhibitors holds significant promise in minimizing the risk of corrosion. In this study, Sarcostemma intermedium stem extract was employed as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in H2SO4 solutions.Stem extract of Sarcostemma intermedium is the rich sources of ingredients which have high inhibition efficiency on corrosion of mild steel. The extract adsorbs on metal surface and suppressed the corrosion of mild steel in acid media. The inhibition efficiency increased with increasing concentration of the inhibitor. The adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface is inconformity with Langmuir adsorption isotherm.Thermodynamic parameters revealed that the adsorption of the inhibitor onto the mild steel surface was a spontaneous process.SEM images demonstrated the formation of a protective layer on the metal surface.
