In civil procedural legislation there are a number of principles aimed at ensuring fairness and efficiency of judicial procedures. This article is devoted to one of these principles – the principle of immediacy. In the course of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that, despite the presence of relevant norms in the legislation, in practice the principle of immediacy manifests itself in different ways, taking into account the characteristics of individual means of proof.
