Cigarette smoking harms nearly every organ of the body, causes many diseases, and reduces the health of smokers in general. Our study aims to explore the changes of aspartate (Asp) levels in the medial prefrontal cortex of patients with nicotine addiction using the J-edited 1H MRS technique. Results showed that the Asp level in medial prefrontal of nicotine addicts is relatively increased, suggesting that the metabolism of aspartate may play a key role in nicotine dependence.
