This article proposes an analysis of natural disasters that have occurred over the past 5 years on a global scale, with a focus on events linked to high rainfall rates, such as climatological, geophysical, hydrological, and meteorological phenomena. Utilizing data from the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters' Natural Disaster Inventory and from Brazil's National Civil Defense and the State of Santa Catarina, the study seeks to identify patterns, characteristics, and impacts of these events. Initially, a panoramic view of global disasters will be presented, followed by a more detailed analysis of the last 5 years worldwide, in Brazil, and in Santa Catarina. Specific objectives include identifying the most significant disasters globally, conducting a detailed analysis of rainfall-related events, and evaluating the specific situation. The expected results may contribute to the understanding of these phenomena, informing the formulation of public policies and prevention and mitigation strategies.
