Natural and synthetic ornamental stones: the first steps towards creating a material library in Pernambuco

This work presents the first steps towards creating a Materioteca with a collection of natural and synthetic ornamental stones. The working method was designed in three phases: Analysis of the communication problems between design and architecture perceived in an ornamental stone processing industry in the city of Caruaru - PE; Mapping of the raw materials used by the company and, finally, Systematisation of the data based on the mechanical properties and finishes of the ornamental stones. As a result, a collection of more than 50 samples is being cataloged to bring students, professionals and suppliers closer to the subject of material selection.
