The text addresses the use of orthoses for lower limbs, highlighting the importance of personalized plantar orthoses in correcting biomechanical problems. The production of personalized insoles through 3D printing is highlighted as a sustainable and versatile alternative, using high-performance polymers and nanocomposites. The study aims to compare traditional insole production with rapid prototyping, focusing on waste generation. For comparison, the traditional insole production methods by CRER and rapid prototyping by Laboratory of Inventive Studies in Assistive Technologies at UFG were used. Therefore, evaluation/comparison of waste generation during the production stages of an orthopedic insole is of substantial relevance, as it directs attention to waste during the manufacturing stages.
